Thunder Bay, Ont., – Just in time for the holiday season, the Thunder Bay Border Cats are excited to announce that the team will play their 2025 Northwoods League home opener on Wednesday, May 28, versus the Rochester Honkers at Port Arthur Stadium. First pitch on opening night will be at 6:35pm in the first game of a four-game series against the Honkers that wraps up on May 31.

Under the director of new manager Joe Ellison, the Cats kick off the 72-game campaign on the road on Monday, May 26, in Eau Claire, in the opener of a two-game series with the Express. Thunder Bay concludes the regular season in Duluth against the Huskies on August 8-9.

The 2025 home schedule includes two “School Day” games beginning at 11:05am on Wednesday, June 4, against Duluth and on Tuesday, June 17, versus LaCrosse with a second game to follow that evening against the Loggers at 6:35pm as part of a split doubleheader.

The Border Cats will host their annual Canada Day game on Tuesday, July 1, against the Waterloo Bucks at 1:35pm. There are also fireworks nights scheduled for Friday, May 30, versus Rochester, on Monday June 30, against Waterloo and on Thursday, August 7, following the final home game of the regular season against Duluth.
