A five-run eighth inning gave the Thunder Bay Border Cats an 11-10 comeback victory over the Rochester Honkers on Saturday.

A sacrifice fly off the bat of Braxton Templin (Georgetown University), scoring Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University), proved to be the go-ahead run for the home side as the Border Cats split their first homestand of the 2025 campaign.

Thunder Bay’s Jordan Bach (Southern Illinois University), who sparked the late rally with a two-run homer as part of a 2-for-4 night with 3 RBI, was the Cwench player of the game. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

Thunder Bay’s Corey Morro (University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma) went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, including a two-out, two-run double in the second inning.

Templin and Manny Alberto (Three Rivers Community College) also had multi-RBI games for Border Cats, with Lucas Johnson (Eastern Michigan University) also driving in a run.

Jackson Hohensee (Arizona Christian University) pitched two scoreless innings to close out the victory, picking up the win on the mound.

The Border Cats improve to 3-3 on the season.

The Border Cats will now hit the road for a pair of games against the Willmar Stingers. Jimmy Cerha (Ohio University) is the expected starting pitcher for Thunder Bay. The Border Cats will return to Port Arthur Stadium on Tuesday to host the Duluth Huskies for the first meeting of the campaign between the Lake Superior rivals.
