The Thunder Bay Border Cats extended their winning streak to three games, knocking off the Great Plains West division-leading St. Cloud Rox at Port Arthur Stadium on Thursday.

The home side drew first blood early, putting three runs on the board in the first inning for a lead the Border Cats held for the rest of the night en route to a 9-6 victory.

Thunder Bay’s Jordan Bach (Southern Illinois University) hit his team-leading fourth home run of the season in the eighth, capping off a perfect 5-for-5 night at the dish with 3 RBI, 3 runs scored, and a stolen base.

Bach was the Cwench Player of the Game for the Border Cats. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.

Manny Alberto (Georgia Gwinnett College) drove in a pair of runs in the winning effort, while Lucas Johnson (Eastern Michigan University), Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University), and  Trey Fikes (University of Nebraska) each contributed by bringing a runner home.

Cameron Johnson (Rutgers University) was credited with the win on the mound, while Owen Thomson (Oakland University) collected the save.

St. Cloud’s Riley Iffrig, who was a member of the Border Cats during the 2024 Northwoods League campaign, belted a two-run homer in the second inning.

Thunder Bay’s record now stands at 9-7, with victories in six of their last nine games.

The Border Cats close out the homestand, and their two-game series against St. Cloud, on Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. It’s ‘Flyaway Friday’ sponsored by Porter Airlines with one lucky fan winning a trip for two anywhere Porter Airlines flies.
