A fifth inning grand slam put the exclamation mark on a 5-RBI night for Jordan Bach (Southern Illinois University) as the Thunder Bay Border Cats took down the Eau Claire Express.

Bach’s bat accounted for all of the Border Cats runs in the 5-2 win over Eau Claire at Carson Park on Saturday.

Southpaw reliever Carter Wall (University of Utah) was credited with the win for his second of the campaign after throwing three scoreless innings. Wall has not surrendered a run in eight innings pitched thus far this season.

Jackson Hohensee (Arizona Christian University) pitched a scoreless ninth inning to collect his fourth save.

The Saturday evening performance from Bach came two days after a 5-hit, 3 RBI game against the St. Cloud Rox that earned the outfielder Northwoods League player of the night honours on June 12.

Bach now leads Thunder Bay with 18 RBI this season, which puts him in the top-five in the circuit.

Thunder Bay’s record stands at 10-8, with victories in four of their last five games.

The Border Cats close out the brief two-game road trip against Eau Claire on Sunday before returning north of the border for a six-game homestand, starting with  four games in three days against the La Crosse Loggers, beginning on Monday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Port Arthur Stadium.
