The Thunder Bay Border Cats scored a Father’s Day win to complete a sweep of their weekend series against the Eau Claire Express.

A pair of Thunder Bay runs in the eighth broke a tie and were just enough for an 8-7 decision over the Express at Carson Park on Sunday.

Jordan Bach (Southern Illinois University) continued his hot streak at the plate, going 3-for-5 while driving in three runs. Bach has now driven in at least three runs in four straight contests, with a total of 14 RBI in that stretch.

Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University), Manny Alberto (Georgia Gwinnett College), and Trey Fikes (University of Nebraska) each drove in a run in the winning effort.

Greg LaChance (University of Illinois) extended his hitting streak to seven games with a pair of base knocks, while crossing the plate three times.

Tyler Talbert (University of Texas-Arlington) picked up the win out of the bullpen, striking out four over three scoreless innings. Owen Thomson (Oakland University) shut the door with the bases loaded in the ninth to pick up the save.

Thunder Bay improves to 11-8, with five wins in their last six games.

The Border Cats return to Port Arthur Stadium on Monday to kick off a homestand of six games in five days, beginning with the first of four against the La Crosse Loggers. John McDonald (Creighton University) is expected to get the start on the mound for the Border Cats.
