The Thunder Bay Border Cats put on a show for a School Day crowd of 1,760 at Port Arthur Stadium, winning the first of two Tuesday games against the La Crosse Loggers.

The Border Cats kicked off their Tuesday doubleheader with a 14-7 win over the visiting Loggers to even their four-game series.

Kael Babin (University of Nebraska-Omaha) and Jacob Miller (Jefferson Community College) each drove in three runs, while Manny Alberto (Georgia Gwinnett College) added a pair of RBI.

Babin was the Cwench Border Cats Player of the Game with a three-run double. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.

Jackson Irwin (Bellarmine University) was credited with the win on the mound, throwing three-plus innings in relief to thwart the La Crosse offence.

The nightcap of the doubleheader will get underway with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch.

Thunder Bay’s Ethan Froud (Pittsburg State University) in line to take to the mound for the second game.

It’s “Taco Tuesday” with Tacos in a Bag available.
