The Thunder Bay Cats put on a winning performance for the dogs, claiming victory on Bark in the Park night at Port Arthur Stadium.

The Border Cats drew first blood with a three-run first, taking a lead that wouldn’t be relinquished en route to a 9-4 victory over the Waterloo Bucks on Thursday.

Greg LaChance (University of Illinois) extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a first inning RBI double, with Jordan Bach (Southern Illinois University) adding a run-scoring hit in the frame.

Bach was the Cwench player of the game for the Border Cats, going 3-for-4 with 3 runs batted in and a pair of stolen bases. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.

Lucas Johnson added some insurance with a two-run double to deep left-centre in the fifth inning.

Thunder Bay starting pitcher Makaio Cisneros (Pensacola State College) threw five innings of two-run ball, striking out seven, to pick up the win.

The Border Cats improve to 14-10, moving to 3.5 games back of Waterloo in the chase for the Great Plains East division first half crown.

The Border Cats close out the series against the Bucks on Friday. John McDonald (Creighton University) is the expected starting pitcher for Thunder Bay. It’s ‘Flyaway Friday’ with one lucky fan winning two tickets for anywhere Porter Airlines flies.
