
The Thunder Bay Border Cats will head into the final day of the first half of the season on a three-game winning streak.
A five-run fifth, followed by a seven-run sixth, pulled the Border Cats ahead for a commanding 12-3 win over the Waterloo Bucks at Port Arthur Stadium on Sunday on the penultimate night of the first half of the Northwoods League season.
Jordan Bach (University of Kansas) was the Cwench player of the game for the Border Cats, hitting his team-leading sixth home run of the campaign as part of a 2-for-4 night with 3 RBI, while also reaching base twice on walks. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.
Ty Hamilton (Florida SouthWestern College), Jeremey Sheffield (Georgetown University) were each credited with 2 RBI.
Carter Wall (University of Utah) picked up his third win of the campaign out of the bullpen, running his record to 3-0 with a pair of saves.
Thunder Bay improves to 21-12 in the first half with eight wins in their last 10 games. The Border Cats have now won five of seven head-to-head meetings with the Bucks so far this season.
The Border Cats continue their four-game series against Waterloo on Monday, with a special 7:35 p.m. start time. Cameron Johnson (Rutgers University) is the expected starting pitcher for Thunder Bay. There will be post-game fireworks.
