The Thunder Bay Border Cats came away with the second half of a Wednesday road doubleheader in Duluth.

The Border Cats downed the Duluth Huskies 6-2 at Wade Stadium in the evening matchup, powered by a 3-RBI performance by Caleb Watkins (Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa Community College).

The three-run triple from Watkins in the fifth opened up a tied ballgame to give the visitors a decisive lead.

Northwoods League All-Star Manny Alberto (Western Kentucky University) added to his team-leading RBI total by driving in a run, with Jacob Miller (Jefferson Community College) and Ayden Hadley (Sacramento State University) also each delivered a run.

Mason Kosowick (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) picked up the victory, completing five innings and allowing only two runs while striking out four.

Ethan Froud (Pittsburg State University) worked four scoreless innings in relief to deny Duluth of a comeback bid.

The Huskies prevailed by a 6-3 score in the opening game of the twinbill.

Miller notched a two-run double for the Border Cats in the fifth inning of that contest.

The Border Cats now lead the Superior Cup series between the two rivals 3-1.

Thunder Bay heads to Wisconsin for a two-game series against the La Crosse Loggers beginning on Thursday, with John McDonald (Florida Southeastern University) scheduled to get the start for the Border Cats.
