The Thunder Bay Border Cats continued to add to their Superior Cup lead, claiming their fourth victory in five matchups over the Duluth Huskies.

The Border Cats plated the go-ahead run in the seventh to break a tie and score an 8-7 win over the Huskies in front of 1,207 fans at Port Arthur Stadium on Tuesday.

Jacob Steinberg (Belmont Abbey College) paced the Border Cats attack, going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and 4 RBI. Steinberg was the Cwench player of the game for the Border Cats. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.

Calvin Warrilow (Dodge City Community College) also drove in a pair of runs, as he also went 2-for-3 with two extra-base hits. Dylan Snead (Ottawa University) and Devon Smith (Montreat College) each brought home a run in the winning effort.

Carson Priebe (McLennan Community College) picked up his third win of the campaign, while Tyler Talbert (University of Texas-Arlington) closed out the game to earn the save.

Thunder Bay’s overall record now stands at 32-27, and 11-14 in the second half. The Border Cats have seven victories in their last 10 games.

The Border Cats close out the homestand on Wednesday against the Huskies. Both teams will wear special throwback uniforms from the Northern League, as the Duluth Dukes suit up against the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. and Ethan Minaker (Cal State University-Bakersfield) is the expected starting pitcher for Thunder Bay. It’s ‘Weenie Wednesday,’ with 2-for-1 hot dogs.
