The Thunder Bay Border Cats are two-for-two in their final homestand of the 2025 Northwoods League season, completing a two-game sweep of the La Crosse Loggers.

Jacob Steinberg (Belmont Abbey College) hit a walkoff single that scored Kaiden Ashton (Central Missouri University) for a 5-4 win over the Loggers at Port Arthur Stadium on Tuesday.

Dylan Snead (Ottawa University) was the Cwench player of the game for the Border Cats, going 2-for-3 at the dish while also reaching base after being hit by a pitch, scoring twice and stealing two bases. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.

Ayden Hadley (Sacramento State University) had a 2-for-4 night with one run batted in, extending his personal streak to six games where he has recorded at least one RBI.

Grant Faris (Ottawa University) earned his second win of the season, tossing a scoreless inning of relief while recording all three outs via strikeouts. Jack Smith (Cal State University-San Marcos) contributed three scoreless innings out of the bullpen to keep the contest knotted up from the sixth through eighth frames.

Thunder Bay’s overall record improves to 37-29, and 16-16 in the second half, with wins in seven of their last 10 games.

The Border Cats continue their final homestand of the season on Wednesday, welcoming Lake Superior rivals Duluth Huskies to Port Arthur Stadium with Rylan Newman (Northern Oklahoma College) expected to be the starting pitcher for Thunder Bay. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. It’s Ladies Night with a Diamond Dig, and Weenie Wednesday with 2-for-1 hot dogs.
