The Thunder Bay Border Cats saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon as they fell 11-6 to the Duluth Huskies before a Father’s Day crowd of 2,012 at Port Arthur Stadium.  The game was called due to rain in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Cats saw their record even out at 14-14 on the season.
After the teams trading three runs apiece in the first inning. Duluth did more damage in the second frame scoring six times and although the Cats crept back making it 9-6 through three innings, the Huskies added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth before the skies opened up.  Duluth slugger Jalen Smith (Barry University) had a monstrous day at the plate as he homered twice and knocked in seven runs as the Huskies improved their record to 12-16.
Alex Kean (Morehead State University) led the Cats offensively with a double, triple, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Stevie Waters (University of British Columbia) added a pair of hits, one RBI, and a run scored. Tyler Bribiescas (University of Arkansas-Monticello) took the loss to fall to 1-3.
The Cats will enjoy a couple days off and then hit the road Wednesday for a four-game trip starting in Duluth with the opener of a two-game set at Wade Stadium at 7:35pm ET.  The 12-game season series with the Huskies for the Superior Cup is tied 2-2.
