

After dropping the opener of a doubleheader 3-2 to La Crosse on Saturday, the Thunder Bay Border Cats bounced back to beat the Loggers 4-3 in the nightcap at Copeland Park.
With the Loggers leading 3-2, the Border Cats scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning to win for the sixth time in their last 10 road games. Jack Weiss (Jefferson CC) led off the inning with a base hit and came around to score the tying run on a single by Jesus Vasquez (University of Hawaii). Justin Anctil (Texas State University), who was hit by a pitch following the Weiss single, came into score the go ahead run on an RBI groundout by Bennett Crafton (Bradley University). Stevie Waters (University of British Columbia) went 2-for-4 in the win and collected five hits in the doubleheader, raising his batting average to .306.
Alex Kean (UNC at Asheville) made a rare appearance on the mound and pitched two scoreless innings in relief to get the victory, including a strikeout with the bases loaded to end the game.
The two teams will play another doubleheader Sunday at Copeland Park beginning at 4:05pm ET. The Cats return to Port Arthur Stadium Monday to open their final four-game homestand of the season against the Waterloo Bucks at 6:35pm.
