Ty Brooks #12 tripled home Greg Lachance #5, with the winning run in the Border Cats 7-6 victory over the Duluth Huskies on Saturday.
Ty Brooks (University of South Alabama) broke a 6-6 tie with a ninth inning triple, scoring Greg Lachance (University of Illinois) with the winning run, and the Thunder Bay Border Cats won for the tenth time in 12 games this season with a 7-6 victory over the Duluth Huskies on Saturday at Wade Stadium. The Cats continue to lead the Great Plains East Division and are tied with the Wausau Woodchucks for the top record in the Northwoods League at 10 and 2.
Lachance, Kyle Morrison (Shelton State CC), and Lucas Terilli (Eastern New Mexico University) all collected two hits in the win, while Zane Skansi (Creighton University) added an RBI double.
Griffin Catto (Southern Illinois University) got the win in relief to improve to 3-0. The Whitby, Ont., native pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts and Sean Heppner (University of British Columbia) pitched out of a two-on, two-out jam, striking out a pair in the bottom of the ninth for his third save.
The Cats and Huskies travel back to Thunder Bay to continue their six-game series on Sunday with first pitch at Port Arthur Stadium set for 5:05pm. Cole Poirrier (Nicholls State University), returning for his second year with the Cats, will make his first start of the season.
