

The Thunder Bay Border Cats dropped a tough 8-7 extra-inning game to the Waterloo Bucks on Tuesday night at Riverfront Stadium. Thunder Bay erased a deficit with a four-run seventh inning and finished with 12 hits, but Waterloo walked it off in the 10th. The Bucks rallied to tie the game 7-7 with three runs in the last of the ninth inning.
Dante Smith (North Dakota State University) led the Border Cats at the plate, going 4-for-6, including a double, with a pair of runs batted in, and two runs scored. First baseman Alex Kean (Morehead State University added two hits with a double and two RBI. Colin Fisher (University of Utah) also knocked in two runs as the Cats record evened at 1-1.
On the mound, Luke Bryant (Ohio University) gave Thunder Bay a strong start with five innings of one-run ball, allowing three hits, while striking out two. Luke Brown (Lewis University) took the loss in relief.
The Border Cats continue their opening road trip on Wednesday when they travel to Wisconsin to play the La Crosse Loggers at 7:35pm ET. Lefthander Tyler Bribiescas (University of Arkansas-Monticello) gets the start on the mound for Thunder Bay.
