The Thunder Bay Border Cats continued their winning ways at Port Arthur Stadium on Wednesday night as they opened a six-game homestand with an 8-4 victory over the Waterloo Bucks.  The Cats second straight win improved their overall record to 11-12 and their home mark to 9-2.
It was a comeback win for Thunder Bay as the Bucks and Cats traded two runs apiece in the first inning.  Alex Kean (Morehead State University) tied the game with a two-run double and the Cats took the lead for good thanks a four-run fourth inning, with the key blow a two-run single by Lincoln Pack (Pensacola State CC).  Stevie Waters (University of British Columbia) added a two-run single in the seventh inning, before the Bucks closed out the scoring by scoring a couple of runs in their final at-bat.  Kean and Waters both had two hits on the night, while Pack led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a pair of runs batted in.
Vincent Segovia (University of Arkansas-Monticello) came on in relief and tossed five scoring innings, allowing five hits, and striking out seven, to pick up his first win of the season.
The two teams play a split-doubleheader on Thursday with a pair of nine inning games.  The opener starts at 11:05am as the Cats host their second “School Day” game for students.  It’s open to all fans with seats available on the stadium’s three party decks.  The second game of the twinbill is scheduled with 6:35pm and it’s “Bark In The Park Night” presented by Pet Valu.  Dogs get in free and the first 100 thru the gates receive a free baggie of treats courtesy of Pet Valu.
