The Thunder Bay Border Cats made it nine wins in their last 10 home games Friday niight as they outlasted the Waterloo Bucks 7-6 before 905 fans at Port Arthur Stadium. The Cats took three out of four games from the Bucks to even their record at 13-13.
With the game tied 6-6 in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Cats scored the winning run when Colin Fisher (University of Houston) blooped a fly ball that was dropped by the Bucks right fielder, allowing Lincoln Pack (Pensacola State CC) to scamper home from third base.  Fisher knocked in two runs in the victory, while Pack had two runs batted in and also scored twice.  Stevie Waters (University of British Columbia) went 2-for-4 with a walk to raise his batting average to a team leading .353.
Alex Uher (Midland CC) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for his first win.  The righthander from Pickering, Ont., did not allow a hit, and struck out two.
The Cats continue their homestand Saturday when they welcome the Duluth Huskies for the opener of a two-game weekend set at 6:35pm.  The 12-game season series between the two rivals for the Superior Cup is even at one game apiece. Righthander Braden Gluth (North Dakota State University) will make his second start of the season for the Cats.  It’s also 90’s Night presented by 99.9 The Bay.
