The Thunder Bay Border Cats got back into the win column on Sunday as they beat the Waterloo Bucks 7-1 at Riverfront Stadium.  The Cats had a 2-1 lead after the first inning and that score held up until Thunder Bay put the game away with a four-run eighth inning, thanks to a two-run single by Colin Fisher (University of Incarnate Word), and a single run in the top of the ninth.  Centre fielder William Polanco (Miami Dade CC) led the way offensively at the plate with a 3-for-5 performance including a double, two runs batted in, and a run scored.  Manny Alberto (Western Kentucky University) had three hits with an RBI and a pair of runs scored, while Steve Spalitta (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) also had three hits, including a double, and scored twice.
Tyler Bribiescas (University of Arkansas-Monticello) got the win to improve his record to 2-4. The lefthander pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up four hits and one run, with four walks and four strikeouts.  Tyler Holmes (Amarillo CC) went the rest of the way as he nailed down his first save.  The righthander allowed only one hit over 3 1/3 shutout innings, with a pair of strikeouts.
The Cats, who are 1-4 in the second half, close out their four-game series Monday in Waterloo at 7:35pm ET, prior to the three-day NWL All-Star break.  Matteo Pare (Troy University) is the scheduled starter for Thunder Bay.  The Cats return home Friday to open a two-game set against the Eau Claire Express at 6:35pm at Port Arthur Stadium.
