Congratulations to former Border Cats pitcher Jack Pineau as he was a member of the Lake Elsinore Storm that won the California League Championship with a 13-2 win over the San Jose Giants in the third and deciding game of the final series. The Storm are the Single “A” affiliate the San Diego Padres, who signed the Thunder Bay righthander as a free agent following the MLB Draft in July. Pineau pitched in relief in the clinching game victory and appeared in two playoff games, allowing one run with two strikeouts. The former Northwoods League All-Star pitched in five games during the regular season with Lake Elsinore and high “A” affiliate Fort Wayne, going 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA and seven strikeouts in nine innings of work.
