BORDER CATS FALL TO WILLMAR

The Border Cats fell 10-9 to the Willmar Stingers in game one of a four game series Monday evening at TbayTel Park.

The Cats starting pitcher Jeremy Charles (University of Hartford) started the first four innings of the game allowing only four runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out two. Cole Stapler (Nicholls State) was handed his first loss of the season while allowing one hit and striking out one in the last two innings of the game.

Joe Gellenbeck (Xavier University) hit a game tying three-run homer, his second of the season, to tie the game 9-9 in the 7th inning, but the Stingers pushed across a run in the top of the 8th to drop Thunder Bay's first half record to 10 and 9. Thunder Bay native, Carter McEachern (Trinity University) had two runs and one RBI while Tyler Coolbaugh (University of Oklahoma) also had two runs on one hit and one RBI. Grant McKown (Florida Tech University) had three more hits, raising his league leading average to .452.  The Lakeland, FL., native also drove in two runs, giving him a team high 18 runs batted in.  

The Border Cats look for a win at home Tuesday night at 7:05pm against the Stingers.
