Cats Fall to Moondogs in Second Half Opener

The first game of the second half saw the Thunder Bay Border Cats visiting the Mankato Moondogs. In an early afternoon game, the Moondogs took control from the third inning on. They took an 8-1 lead in the seventh inning and looked like the Cats were out of it. The Cats did manage to make it more interesting by scoring three runs in the top of the eighth inning to cut the lead to four. Unfortunately, the Moondogs shut down the Cats and won their first game of the second half.

The Cats scored all of their runs off of home runs from Kevin Biondic, JF Garon, and Alex Sanchez. The three home runs were three of the five total hits for the Cats. Although the Moondogs scored eight runs only four of them were earned. The Cats allowed four errors to help the Moondogs score four unearned runs.

The Cats will look to rebound tomorrow against the same Moondogs at 8:05EST. They will look to grab their first win of the second half as they push for a playoff spot. Make sure to follow along on Twitter for up to the minute updates of the game in Mankato.
