Border Cats End Homestand with Series Sweep!

On the final night of a six game homestand, the Thunder Bay Border Cats swept the Eau Claire Express with a 12-8 victory. The Cats poured on the base hits as they combined for 20 hits. The hit parade was led by Kevin Biondic (5-5, 2 RBI, HR) and Noah Strohl (4-4, 3 RBI). The story of the game came in the bottom of the eighth inning with the game tied at 8. The Cats had just blown a one run lead and were now heading into the bottom half of the eighth inning tied. Right off the bat, the Cats got back to back home runs from Colin Rosenbaum and Kevin Biondic. The Cats added two more runs to make the lead 12-8. The most impressive part of the inning is right after hitting a home run Kevin Biondic took a couple steps into the dugout and ran out to the right field bullpen to warm up. Biondic then came in minutes later to close out the game and secure the win for the Cats.

In front of another solid crowd of around 950 fans, they all made their presence felt. The Cats will now be away from the home fans for a week as they embark on the final road trip of the season. The Cats will get to visit Lacrosse, WI, Eau Claire, WI, Rochester, MN and a quick stop for a couple Cats in Madison, WI for the Northwoods League Major League Dreams Showcase. The Cats will return home for their final homestand on Thursday, August 10 versus the Willmar Stingers. It will be a jam packed schedule as Thursday is a Thirsty Thursday brought to you by Sleeping Giant Brewery Co. The marquee game of the homestand will be on Saturday, August 12 as it is our final fireworks night! Make sure you join us to thank our Cats and give them a great Canadian goodbye.
