Border Cats Drop Season Opener

After hopping on the bus at Port Arthur Stadium at 3:30 AM the Cats headed to Bismarck, ND, for the first game of the season. Upon arrival, the Cats got off to a quick start with a bases-loaded RBI single from Shane Connahan. However, the Larks quickly bounced back in the bottom half of the first inning scoring three runs to take a 3-1 lead. The rest of the game Larks pitchers Carlos Lopez (1-0) and Jordan Bock shut down the Cats offense limiting them to only two hits. The Larks would add runs in the sixth and seventh innings to make the final 5-1. Border Cats starting pitcher Erik Key (0-1) pitched four innings and picked up the loss for the Cats. The Cats will look to bounce back and grab their first win of the season tomorrow against the same Larks. First pitch is at 8:05 ET and you can follow along with up-to-the-minute updates from our Twitter @tbbordercats.
