BORDER CATS ADD FOUR MORE PLAYERS TO ROSTER
Thunder Bay, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Border Cats have added four more players to their roster for the 2019 Northwoods League season. Manager Eric Vasquez has officially signed infielder Tyson Fisher, outfielder Jake Engel, catcher Joe Jimenez and outfielder Ryne Edmondson.
Fisher is a freshman at Dixie Valley University in his hometown of St. George, Utah. The 6’4”, 220 pounder played at Dixie High School where he hit 10 home runs and drove in 42 runs in his senior season. Fisher also excelled on the mound with a region tying six wins and also finished in the top 10 with 76 strikeouts.
Engel also plays his collegiate ball at Dixie Valley University. The 6’2”, 195 pound sophomore enjoyed a productive 2018 season as he batted .276 with two home runs and 22 RBI in 32 games. The native of Tucson, Ariz., was also third on the team with nine doubles.
Jimenez is a sophomore at Chapman University in Orange, CA. The 5’10”, 185 pound backstop is a native of San Francisco, CA.
Edmondson is a 5’10”, 180 pound left-handed hitter at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Edmondson, who hails from Chandler, Ariz., is in his freshman season with the Wolverines.
The Border Cats open the 2019 regular season on Tuesday, May 28, at 7:05 pm against the Duluth Huskies at Port Arthur Stadium. Fans can visit www.bordercatsbaseball.com to take advantage of the early bird season ticket special through February 28.
