Kalamazoo, MI – The Wisconsin Woodchucks lost a 3-1 lead in the seventh inning Friday and fell to the Kalamazoo Growlers 4-3 at Homer Stryker Field.

The Chucks took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Ryan Day led off with a base on balls and Ramsey Romano singled. After a past ball, Keenan Eaton scored Day on a sacrifice fly to right field. However, Kalamazoo scored in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.

After four innings of scoreless ball, Wisconsin got back on the board in the seventh. Jordan Bischel pinch hit Connor Heady and Taylor Kohlwey to start the inning. They both reached – Heady on a single and Kohlwey on an error – and they both scored on a Ty Black single to right field.

Devin Skapura set the Chucks up for victory. The Woodchuck starter gave up five hits and one unearned run in six innings of work, and Wisconsin was up 3-1 when he left the ballgame.

Kaleb Roper entered in the seventh, and Kalamazoo responded. The Growlers scored three runs on three hits and two walks, capped off by a 2-RBI single from Jordan Stading, to take a 4-3 lead going to the eighth.

Ryan Day gave the Chucks hope in the eighth by doubling with two outs, but he was stranded on second base after Connor Heady flew out to left field.
