Rafters Cut Down The Loggers 7-4

Rafters End Loggers 6 Game Winning Streak

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.- The Rafters offense came alive for seven runs, including six in the final three innings to get the Rafters back in the win column Wednesday night at Witter Field. The Loggers had their six game winning streak snapped against the Rafters, as the home team brought their record on the summer back to .500. Jake Johansmeier (Eastern Illinois) collected his third win of the season and is now tied for the Northwoods League lead in wins, while Liam Carter (Missouri) took the loss for La Crosse.

The Loggers took the lead in the top of the second inning, as Grant Fennell (Nevada) scored on a wild pitch, to plate the first run of the ball game. The Rafters responded in the bottom of the fourth, as Jake Sandlin (Georgia College) scored on an RBI groundout from Max WIdmar (Parkland College) to tie the game. The Rafters took control of the game in the 6th with a three run inning, as Demetrius Sims (Bethune-Cookman) had an RBI single and a run scored in the inning. The Rafters plated three more runs in the 7th as a key pinch-hit RBI single from Blake Molitor (Illinois State) scored the seventh and final run of the ball game to help ensure the victory. Craig Pearcy (Morehead State) came in and slammed the door on La Crosse in the 9th, as he collected his first save of the summer.

The Rafters host the Battle Creek Bombers Thursday and Friday at Witter Field, before hitting the road for a four game road trip. Thursday night’s game is Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa Casino Night and will feature Baseball Bingo during the game and special alternate themed jerseys to be worn by the Rafters and included in a silent auction. Tickets are still available, call 715-424-5400.
