Rafters Win Slug-Fest 11-7 on Monday Night

Rafters hook the Chinooks and are now 3.5 games out of 1st place

Mequon, Wis- The Rafters take sole possession of 2nd place in the Northwoods League South Division with an 11-7 win over Lakeshore on Monday night. Wisconsin Rapids took an 8-0 lead with a six run fifth inning and never looked back. Mitchell McGeein (Eastern Michigan) blasted his fourth home-run of the summer in that inning and really got the offensive going. Back-to-Back RBI doubles from Ryan Cleveland (Georgia Southern) and Sam Tolleson (Central Florida) in the eighth inning provided some much needed insurance runs for the visiting team.

Brian Russell (College of Staten Island) was the starter for Wisconsin Rapids tonight and he picked up his first win of the summer for the Rafters. Russell threw a stellar six innings, allowing only three hits and one earned run in his fourth outing if the summer. Brian Bass (Faulkner University) came in to get the final out of the game in the only batter that he faced.

The 2nd place Rafters have another game in Lakeshore to conclude this four game road trip tomorrow night. The Rafters return home to Historic Witter Field Wednesday to take on the first place Kenosha Kingfish. Tickets are still available, call 715-424-5400.
