Wisconsin Rapids was 4-2 on a six-game road trip last week
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Rafters will play a home game at Historic Witter Field for the first time in an unprecedented 10 days tonight when Wisconsin Rapids hosts the Madison Mallards at 7:05 p.m.
Coming off of a six-game road trip in which the Rafters were 4-2, Wisconsin Rapids will look to carry that momentum forward as they look to move up the South Division standings. The Rafters averaged nearly six runs a game last week, while holding their opponents to three runs per game.
On the mound for Wisconsin Rapids tonight is the future UW-Milwaukee Panther, Jay Peters. The Randolph, Wisconsin native has been exceptional in his two starts for the Rafters, compiling a 1-1 record with a 2.45 ERA. The righty has struck out 16 batters in 11 innings while surrendering just a pair of walks. Peters picked up his first win of the season in his last start, pitching six innings of one-run ball and striking out 10 against the Wisconsin Woodchucks on July 7.
Tonight is Solarus Baseball Card Night at Witter Field, with the first fans of all ages through the gates will receive a set of the 2015 team prior to the game. Tickets are still available for tonight’s game and all remaining home games during the 2015 season.
