Wisconsin Rapids beat Kalamazoo 5-4 in game one of the series

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin – The Rafters are looking for their first two-game sweep of the Kalamazoo Growlers on Sunday after splitting the first three series in the 2015 season. Today’s game is the third and final day game of the season for Wisconsin Rapids with the first pitch at 12:05 p.m. Gates open at 11:05 a.m.

On Saturday night, the Rafters made a habit of getting out of jams in a 5-4 win over the Growlers. Kalamazoo out hit Wisconsin Rapids 14-5 on the day, but the Rafters’ pitchers kept the Growlers from hitting the ball hard as the majority of the Kalamazoo hits were ground balls finding holes or bloopers over the infield. Ryan Cleveland (Georgia Southern) hit his fourth home run in nine games and Jay Peters (UW-Milwaukee) grabbed his third win of the summer.

On the mound for Wisconsin Rapids will be opening day starter, Adam Hall. The former Xavier Musketeer holds a 2-4 record on the year with a 4.02 ERA over nine starts. At Witter Field this season, Hall is 1-1 with a 3.33 ERA over 27 innings.

Today is Faith Day at Witter Field presented by 88.5 The Family. Fans in attendance will receive a Luke A. Weiland team poster. Following the game, fans will be entertained by musician Jonny Diaz, who will play an hour postgame set.
