Nearly 700 attendees helped make Wisconsin Rapids’ first CurdFest a success

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin – Despite rain late in the afternoon, the people of Wisconsin Rapids made CurdFest at Witter Field on a Sunday a great success.

The free event, sponsored by the Rafters and the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, saw nearly 700 people attend the event that featured three local cheese vendors handing out samples and selling a variety of cheese curds. CurdFest was scheduled to last from noon to 4 p.m., but heavy rain in the area caused the event to end about 30 minutes early.

The Curds Of Wisconsin curd truck won the fan vote for favorite cheese curds with their tradition curds, while Ed and Sharon’s Restaurant and Catering’s Better Than Fair Curds were a popular choice, and the Harmony Specialty Dairy Foods dill and chipotle curds brought a little variety to the event. Bro Country provided live music for fans from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., creating a great atmosphere for yard games, curds and beer.

The Rafters return home for the final week of the 2015 Northwoods League season on Monday, August 3. The Rafters play three games on Monday against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, making up parts of a game from May, a rain-out in July and the regularly scheduled game for August 3. The Rafters then finish the season with a four-game homestand from August 6-9. Tickets are still available, call 715-424-5400 or visit RaftersBaseball.com.
