Southpaw Pitching Combo set to Join Rafters

Jack Eagan and Alex Jackson strengthen pitching staff

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – More pitching depth is on the way for the Rafters after the team announced the signing of a pair of left-handers in Jack Eagan from Madison College and Alex Jackson from Heartland Community College.

A native of Wautoma, Wisconsin, Jack Eagan has signed with his home-state Rafters for the 2017 season. After originally enrolling at Indiana University to start off this school year, Eagan transferred to Madison College for this spring, and is making his presence felt on the mound. In three starts, the lefty has pitched at least 5 1/3 innings in each start. His collegiate debut came against Paradise Valley Community College, striking out six batters and allowing one earned run. In his past two starts, Eagan has not given up a run in 13 total innings. On the season, the freshman owns a strikeout to walk rate of five to one with an ERA of 0.49. Starring at Wautoma High School he won Conference Player of the Year three times.  The Eagan name may sound familiar to some Rafters fans as his cousin, Clark Eagan, played for the team during the 2014 season.

Set to join Eagan on the Rafters this summer is left-handed pitcher Alex Jackson from Heartland Community College. In his first career start this year the lefty threw five scoreless innings against Prairie State on March 14th. Earning the 1-0 victory, Jackson allowed three hits and opened eyes with 10 strikeouts, establishing a career high. During his time in high school, Jackson pitched his way to a 4-2 record in his senior season. He is a graduate from Mahomet-Seymour High School in Illinois where he owned a career ERA below 2.50 and a three-to-one career strikeout to walk ratio.

The season and home opener for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters is May 30th at 7:05 against the Kenosha Kingfish. Solarus Founders Club, bleacher 9-Game ticket packages, and group outing packages are on sale now.
