Wisconsin Rapids looks for their fourth straight road victory tonight visiting Rockford

 

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (4-2) visit the Rockford Rivets (3-3) for the first time this season. The Rafters got back on the winning side of things yesterday with a blowout win over Green Bay 13-1. The cranberry and gold tallied up 15 hits on the Bullfrogs including two two-run singles from Payton Robertson (Lamar) and the first home run of 2018 for the Rafters, a two-run home run hit by Steven Rivas (Long Beach State) to right field. The pitching for Wisconsin Rapids was rolling as well. Jake Cook (Birmingham Southern) and Kyle Hodgson (Framingham State) combined gave up only three hits, an unearned run and struck out nine Bullfrogs. Cook was awarded the win in his Rafters debut yesterday.

 

The Rafters are 3-1 on the road thus far and look for their fourth straight road win tonight at Rivets Stadium.

 

Starting for the Rafters this evening is RHP Cole Waites (0-0, 0.00). Waites’ last start came against the Woodchucks in Wausau, WI. The sophomore went the first two innings for the Rafters allowing one hit and fanning four in the eventual 8-4 win.

 

The Rivets will send RHP Cole Bellair (1-0, 0.00) to the mound. Bellair started opening day for Rockford as they hosted the Green Bay Bullfrogs. The junior from Tennessee Wesleyan pitching seven innings of shutout ball with six pun­chouts
