Wisconsin Rapids held Lakeshore scoreless in fifth straight win at Witter Field
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – Following a 9-4 loss at Kapco Park last night, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters shutout the Chinooks 13-0 to win their fifth straight home game. The Rafters struck early in the first as Ty Duvall (Vanderbilt) nailed an RBI single to score Steven Rivas (Long Beach State). Brody Wofford (UCF) reached home on a 4-6-3 double play and Duvall later scored on an RBI single from Ian Fair (Northeastern).
The cranberry and gold struck again in the fourth. Matt Schmidt (Michigan) grounded out to short and collected an RBI as Ethan Stringer (Louisville) crossed home plate. Wofford belted a base hit of his own to score Fair and Duvall capped off the frame with a two-run double. The Rafters poured it on in the bottom of the eighth. Wisconsin Rapids batted around on the Chinooks scoring five runs on six hits. Ty Duvall collected two more RBI to end his night with five. Duvall’s five RBI performance is the first for a Rafter since Jake Guenther collected five in a game against Rockford back on July 16th, 2017.
Wisconsin Rapids is now 12-9 on the year following the series split with the Lakeshore Chinooks who are now 9-13.
Tomorrow, the Rafters head to Fond du Lac to visit the Dock Spiders starting a two-game series at Herr-Baker Field at Marian University. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm CT tomorrow evening.
