Wisconsin Rapids held Rockford in check the entire night opening the homestand with a 5-0 shutout win

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. –  The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (19-23, 4-3 2nd half) shut out the Rockford Rivets (19-22, 1-6 2nd half) 5-0 to start off the three-game homestand. Gareth Stroh no-hit the Rivets through six innings and ended with seven scoreless.

The Rafters started their scoring in the fifth as Victor Carlino (Long Beach State) delivered a two-out base hit to score Mitch Mallek (St. Cloud State). Ty Duvall (Vanderbilt) smashed a three-run blast to left in the sixth and Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) smacked an RBI single in the eighth as the scoring ended 5-0, Wisconsin Rapids.

Gareth Stroh (3-1, 2.65 ERA) earned his third win and his fourth quality start of the year. Stroh allowed no hits through six innings, pitching seven total scoreless frames, allowed one hit, walked a batter and struck out five. Cooper Cain (1-1, 1.50 ERA) suffered the loss allowing two earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts.

The Rafters conclude the series with Rockford tomorrow with a 7:05 pm CT first pitch from Witter Field.
