Wisconsin Rapids looks for a fourth straight win at home
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Rafters will conclude their three-game home stand tonight when they face off against the Green Bay Bullfrogs. The Rafters 20-23 are overall and 5-3 in the second half while their Big Top Baseball rival is 13-31 overall and 1-7 in the second half.
The Rafters are on a two-game win streak after their sweep of the Rockford Rivets. Last night, Trayson Kubo (Stephen F. Austin) pitched five innings he struck out seven batters and did not allow a run. In total, the Rafters pitching staff struck out 13 Rivets during last nights game. Steven Rivas (Long Beach State) hit his tenth homerun of the season, tying him for second in home runs in the Northwoods League.
Taking the mound for the Rafters is Brecken Lewis (Dixie State). Lewis has a 1-2 record and a 4.88 ERA. In his 27.2 innings pitched, he has struck out 15 batters and allowed the same number of walks. This will be Lewis’ tenth appearance and sixth start as a Rafter.
Pitching for the Frogs will be Jason Applegate. The righthanded junior from Villanova sports a 3.47 ERA with a 1-2 record. In his 33.2 innings pitched and 11 appearances has struck out 29 batters, walked 25 and allowed 20 hits.
The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. tonight. The Rafters will hit the road for three games before having an off day on Monday, July 16th.
