Wisconsin Rapids dropped a rain-shortened game to Madison in the series finale

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (22-29, 7-9 2nd half) fell to the Madison Mallards (36-16, 8-8 2nd half) 7-1 in Madison, WI Friday night. Madison once again used a big inning to pull away from the Rafters. The Mallards started the scoring in the third. After loading the bases, Tyler Plantier delivered a grand slam to make it 4-0 Mallards. Two more runs came in on an RBI double and an RBI groundout. The Rafters scored their lone run in the fifth. Ty Duvall (Vanderbilt) scored on a double play. Madison hit their second home run of the game in their fifth frame as Jake Randa went yard.

Rain came through prior to the eighth inning getting started and game was called after a half hour delay. Tyler Giovinco (2-1, 4.09 ERA) was given the loss. Ryan Kutt (3-2, 4.58 ERA) earned the win allowing just one run in five innings. The Rafters continue the road trip tomorrow traveling to Battle Creek for a two-game series. First pitch is 6:05 pm CT.
