The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters head to Rockford to begin a five-day road trip.
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Rafters walk-off win last night pushed the Rafters to 12-10 in the second half and 27-30 overall. This ranks them tied for second in the second half standings with the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders, Wisconsin Woodchucks and Madison Mallards. They are placed fifth in the overall South Division standings.
The Rockford Rivets have experienced a tough second half and are currently 6-17 with a 24-33 overall record. The Rafters will square off against the Rivets in back to back days at Rivets Stadium.
Taking the hill for the cranberry and gold is Kyle Hodgson (Framingham State). He currently sports a 3-0 record for the Rafters with a 3.58 ERA. In his 13 appearances on the mound, this will be Hodgson’s second start of the season. In 32.2 Innings pitched, Hodgson has struck out 19 batters and allowed only 10 walks and 24 hits. Hodgson’s first start was against the Battle Creek Bombers on July 22nd. He pitched 5.0 innings and allowed only five hits, one walk and struck out one batter.
Pitching for the Rockford Rivets is Alex Bacevicius from Robert Morris. He has a 0-2 record with a 4.50 ERA. He has three appearances and two starts. In his 12 innings pitched he has struck out two and allowed 15 hits. He pitched four innings against Wisconsin Rapids on July 11th. In that matchup he received his first loss of the season and allowed four runs on four hits.
