Rapids finishes out the first half with two games against a divisional opponent

After rain forced the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (21-13) Monday game to be postponed, the team will play a doubleheader against the Green Bay Booyah (15-19) on Tuesday.

Tuesday will bring an end to the first half of the Rafters 10thAnniversary Season. The Rafters have already clinched a second-place finish in the Great Lakes West Division first-half standings.

Tonight’s games will be the second doubleheader for the Rafters in the last four days. Wisconsin Rapids won both games against Fond du Lac in a doubleheader on Saturday and finished the three-game series with another win at home on Sunday to complete the sweep.

Nathan Hemmerling is projected to start game one for the Rafters with a 3-1 record and a 1.28 ERA through five starts. In his last outing, Hemmerling struck out five batters in five shutout innings against Fond du Lac on June 25. Dalton Wiggins is expected to make his first start for Green Bay tonight. The right-hander has an 0.75 ERA in eight relief appearances.

In game two, Gareth Stroh is the projected starter for the Rafters. The lefty is a perfect 3-0 on the year with a 2.25 ERA and 20 strikeouts. He will face off against Green Bay’s Nick Riggle, who has a 1-3 record and a 4.50 ERA this season.

The Rafters kick off the second half of the season and begin a two-game series with the Wisconsin Woodchucks at Historic Witter Field Wednesday, featuring a postgame fireworks show presented by Nasonville Dairy.
