Wisconsin Rapids starts fresh in the second half with a two-game series against Wisconsin

After a successful first half, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (0-0) kick off the second half of the Northwoods League season with a two-game home series against the Wisconsin Woodchucks (0-0).

The Rafters ended the first half on a six-game winning streak and have won nine home games in a row at Historic Witter Field. The team finished in second place in the Great Lakes West Division first-half standings with a record of 23-13.

The Rafters are coming off a doubleheader sweep of the Green Bay Booyah, winning by scores of 5-3 and 6-3. Richie Schiekofer went 5-for-6 on the day with a pair of RBIs.

Nate Barnes is projected to start for the Rafters. The lefty from Mount Mercy has a 1-1 record and a 2.11 ERA in five appearances and two starts this summer. He will face off against Wisconsin’s Emmanual Corporan, who is making his first start for the Woodchucks. He has a 1-1 record and a 3.32 ERA in eight appearances.

The Rafters have a 3-3 record against the Woodchucks this season, winning the last meeting 6-4 in Wausau. Wisconsin Rapids closes out the homestand on Thursday for July 4that Historic Witter Field. Fans who bring a non-perishable food item get 2-for-1 tickets.
