Wisconsin Rapids opens a two-game series against the Jackrabbits

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (2-2) play their farthest games of the season, heading to Kokomo, Indiana, for a two-game series with the Kokomo Jackrabbits (2-2) Sunday.

This is the first-ever meeting between Wisconsin Rapids and Kokomo, which is in its first year in the Northwoods League. The matchup will also be the first interdivision game for the Rafters since they opened the season against Rockford.

Wisconsin Rapids is looking to rebound after losing game two against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 4-2 on Saturday. The Jackrabbits finished the first half with a 15-18 overall record, finishing fourth in the Great Lakes East Division.

Neil Abbatiello is projected to start for the Rafters. The lefty all-star pitcher has a 3-1 record and a 1.21 ERA, notching 33 strikeouts in 29.2 innings. KC Bryan gets the nod for Kokomo out of Southeast Oklahoma State. The right-hander compiled a 5-1 record and a 5.82 ERA as a sophomore at Seminole State College and will make his first start for the Jackrabbits.

The Rafters close the series in Kokomo on Monday before travelling to Fond du Lac for one game. The team then returns home to face the Dock Spiders at Historic Witter Field on Wednesday for Quality Feed and Seed Bark in the Park Night.
