Rafters look to stay undefeated in two-game mid-week home-and-away series. 

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are back at Witter Field tonight, to host the La Crosse Loggers for the second time in 2020. The Rafters are at the top of the Wisconsin-Illinois Pod, and are looking to further improve a 6-1 home record to start to the season.

The Rafters enter tonight off of their best offensive performance of 2020, a 13-4 win over the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. The Rafters drew a season-high 11 walks and hit six doubles in the win. The Rafters improved to 10-4 with yesterday’s win, first in the Wisconsin-Illinois Pod.

The Rafters start Chris McElvain tonight against the Loggers. McElvain has not allowed a run over his first eight innings pitched, striking out seven. McElvain’s last start came on July 10th versus Rockford, when he pitched four strong innings, holding the Rivets off the board.

The Loggers will throw North Florida lefty Tony Roca. Roca has a 1.86 ERA in 9.2 innings. He appeared on July 5th versus the Rafters, throwing a scoreless seventh inning, in a 6-2 Rafters win.
