Mequon, Wis. – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (8-22) took another tough loss 13-4 against the Lakeshore Chinooks (12-18) Sunday afternoon. It was a dominant start from Lakeshore’s Nate Ciemny (2-4), going seven complete innings and allowing just six baserunners on the afternoon. The Rafters saw multi-hit games from Jake Beauchaine and Payton Bryant, but couldn’t put it together to make a comeback.

The Chinooks were the first on the board, taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a three-RBI double from Dylan Sayles off Rafters starter Trevor Moeck (2-2).

The Rafters responded in the top of the third with three runs of their own, knotting it 3-3 behind an error and RBIs from Kerim Orucevic and Jake Beauchaine off Chinooks starter Ciemny.

Another three-spot came from Lakeshore in the bottom of the third, reclaiming a 6-3 lead with an error and RBIs from Jack Counsell and Owen Deshazo off Wisconsin Rapids’ Moeck.

A couple of scoreless innings passed, but the Chinooks got the offense started back up in the bottom of the sixth, tacking on six runs off Rafters reliever Kenny Schultz, extending their lead to 12-3.

The Rafters finally worked one back in the top of the seventh, seeing a bases-loaded walk from Luke Skinner on Chinooks reliever Noah Kimura, bringing the score to 12-4.

The Chinooks bit back in the bottom of the frame, sending home Broc Parmer on Sayles’ fifth RBI of the game, a sac fly off Wisconsin Rapids’ Ashton Poole to make it 13-4.

Kimura finished the game with a shutout ninth, keeping the nine-run lead intact to get the Chinooks back with a win.

With the season series officially over, the Rafters went 7-5 against Lakeshore despite the loss on Sunday. The Rafters will take on the Green Bay Rockers next, playing on the road for a two-game series before their home finale. First pitch for the first game in Green Bay is scheduled for 6:35 P.M. and it will be broadcast for video on NWL+ and for radio on WFHR 97.5 FM/1320 AM.
