The Madison Mallards continue to battle for a playoff berth as the first half comes to an end, defeating the Rafters 4-0 after heavy rainfall cut the contest after seven innings of play.

Starter Andrew Beckwith turned in an outstanding performance, shutting out Wisconsin Rapids over six innings, and taking home his first Pitcher of the Night honor. The junior from Coastal Carolina allowed just three hits, no walks, and struck out a pair of batters as he improved his record to 2-1 on the year. After moving into a starting role, Beckwith has been untouchable the last two times he's toed the rubber, throwing 12 straight scoreless innings, allowing just eight hits and striking out five.

Madison remains a game out of first place in the South Division, and will look to fight to clinch a playoff spot as they travel to La Crosse for a day-night doubleheader starting at 12:05 PM.
