Alexandria,Minn – The Alexandria Blue Anchors, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the signing of left handed pitcher Phil Orr.

Orr, comes to the Blue Anchors from Dallas Baptist University. He is the third member of the Patriots to be named to the Blue Anchors roster for the 2014 season. The sophomore has appeared in six games so far this season posting a 4.70 ERA with 7 strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work.

Last summer he played in the Alaska Baseball League and was named to the All-Star 2nd team after posting a 2.01 ERA. In high school Phil was a standout at Lake Travis High School in Texas, he was selected First Team All-State by TSWA and THSBCA.

“I’m excited to play for the Blue Anchors this summer, I think it’ll be a great opportunity to meet new people and see a different area while playing baseball,” says Orr. “I’m really looking forward to winning some ball games for this organization.”

Born March 10th, 1994, Phil is the son of Kevin and Leanne Orr and is originally from Spicewood, TX. Phil enjoys a round of golf when not playing baseball or working on his Pre-Med major at DBU.

“We are excited to bring Phil onboard for the 2014 season,” says Kendall Hughson, Blue Anchors GM. “He is a player that has previous summer ball experience and can help be a leader in the clubhouse.”

The Blue Anchors will start the 2014 season on Tuesday May 27th at home versus the Mankato MoonDogs.
