Sunday’s Northwoods League slate featured a doubleheader between the La Crosse Steam and Madison Night Mares. The series is split even 1-1, the third and final game of the series will take place this Tuesday.

La Crosse 4, Madison 0

The La Crosse Steam shut out the Madison Night Mares 4-0. Avary Makarewicz (Eastern Illinois University) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Ashley Wolfe (Oregon State University) went 1-for-2 scoring once with one stolen base. Lindsey Shultz (Grinnell College) went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Mackenzie Willis (Belmont University) earned the win throwing seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts allowing two hits and two walks.

Madison 14, La Crosse 0

The Madison Night Mares came out hot in the first inning scoring nine runs to shut out and mercy rule the La Crosse Steam 14-0. Addie Blomberg (South Dakota State University) went 3-for-4 scoring once with a two-run double, an RBI single, and one stolen base. Chloe Wamboldt (Rock Valley College) went 2-for-4 scoring twice with three RBI. Kayla Thomas (Campbell University) went 1-for-3 scoring once with a double and two RBI. Tia Durst (Lake Land) went 2-for-3 scoring once with a double and one RBI. Karlie Mckenzie (Eastern Illinois University) earned the win throwing four scoreless innings with five strikeouts allowing four walks and three hits.
