Wednesday’s Northwoods League slate featured a solo matchup between the #2 Madison Night Mares and #1 Mankato Habaneros. There was also a doubleheader between the #3 La Crosse Steam and #4 Minot Honeybees.
Madison 10, Mankato 6
The Madison Night Mares scored four runs in the sixth to take down the Mankato Habaneros 10-6. Mia Johnson (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) went 3-for-4 scoring once with a solo home run. Danielle Lucey (University of Wisconsin) went 2-for-3 scoring twice with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Chloe Wamboldt (Rock Valley College) went 2-for-3 scoring twice with two RBI. Paige Zender (Iowa State University) went 1-for-4 scoring once with a grand slam. Andrea Jaskowiak (University of Iowa) earned the win throwing 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts allowing zero hits or walks.
Minot 10, La Crosse 0
The Minot Honeybees dominate the La Crosse Steam 10-0 taking game one. Sydney Farmer (Tyler Junior College) went 1-for-3 scoring once with a two-run walk-off home run for the mercy rule victory. Shayna Myshrall (Niagara University) went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI. Abbie Stigler (Saint Mary”s University) went 1-for-3 scoring three times with two RBI. Jackie Albrecht (University of North Dakota) earned the win throwing five scoreless innings with four strikeouts allowing three walks and one hit.
La Crosse 1, Minot 0
The La Crosse Steam split the doubleheader winning game two 1-0 over the Minot Honeybees. Katie Beagle (University of Illinois at Springfield) went 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI. Ashley Wolfe (University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire) went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Sydney Schott (Spalding University) earned the win throwing five scoreless innings with two strikeouts allowing three walks and three hits.
