Thursday’s Northwoods League slate featured 11 games. The Eau Claire Express staged a thrilling three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the La Crosse Loggers 8-6.

Thunder Bay 7, Willmar 6

The Thunder Bay Border Cats rallied with a five-run fifth inning to edge out the Willmar Stingers 7-6. Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University (MD)) went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, tallying three RBIs, one run scored, and two stolen bases. Junior Lopez (Ottawa University (KS)) went 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Colton Griffin (Texas Christian University) went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, recording two RBIs, one run scored, and one stolen base. Max Buettenback (University of Nebraska) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Carson Priebe (McLennan CC (TX)) earned the win, throwing one inning, allowing three hits and one run. Carter Wall (University of Utah) got the save, pitching two scoreless no-hit innings with two strikeouts, allowing one walk.

Madison 10, Fond du Lac 3

The Madison Mallards used a powerful mid-game surge to take down the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 10-3. Will Johannes (University of Illinois) went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run. Michael Lippe (University of Minnesota) went 2-for-5 scoring once with three RBIs and one stolen base. Frankie Carney (UC Irvine) went 1-for-3 with a double, scoring twice, driving in one run, and stealing twice. Landon Mensik (Xavier University) went 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Devin Nunez (University of Nebraska) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, recording one RBI and one run scored. Elliot Cadieux Lanoue (Florida Gulf Coast University) earned the win throwing five innings with four strikeouts allowing four hits, two walks, and one run.

Mankato 8, Bismarck 3

The Mankato MoonDogs struck early and maintained control to defeat the Bismarck Larks 8-3. Connor Cuff (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, driving in one run and scoring once. Brandon Vlcko (Minnesota State University) went 1-for-3 with a double, recording two RBIs and one run scored. Collin Jennings (University of Illinois) went 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI. Ethan Crawford (Grinnell College) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Preston Giltner (Pittsburg State University) earned the win throwing five innings with four strikeouts allowing three hits, two runs, and two walks.

St. Cloud 8, Minot 5

The St. Cloud Rox out-slugged the Minot Hot Tots 8-5, using a 14-hit offensive attack. Tanner Recchio (University Of St. Thomas) was perfect at the plate going 5-for-5 scoring three times with one RBI and two stolen bases. Joshua Dykhoff (University of Minnesota-Crookston) went 2-for-4 scoring once with two RBIs. Jaixen Frost (University of Iowa) went 2-for-4 with a double, recording one RBI and one run scored. Zach Doyle (UC Irvine) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, recording three RBIs. Kaden Pfeffer (Miami University (OH)) earned the win throwing two innings with one strikeout allowing two hits, one run, and one walk. Brandon Jaenke (University of Minnesota) got the save throwing one perfect inning.

Waterloo 3, Duluth 1

The Waterloo Bucks rallied late to take down the Duluth Huskies 3-1. Michael Barham (Murray State CC) went 1-for-3 scoring once with two RBIs. Larry Edwards (McNeese State University) went 1-for-4 with a double, recording one RBI and one stolen base. Tyler Palmer (University of Nebraska Omaha) went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one stolen base. Aidan Elfering (University of Dubuque) earned the win throwing nine innings with three strikeouts allowing six hits, one run, and one walk.

Green Bay 4, Lakeshore 1

The Green Bay Rockers used a late offensive surge to top the Lakeshore Chinooks 4-1. Eric Jeon (Stanford University) went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, driving in four runs. Grant Gray (UCLA) went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and scoring once. KJ Ward (Park University-Gilbert) earned the win throwing three innings with four strikeouts allowing two walks, one run, and one hit. Caden Watson (North Iowa Area CC) got the save throwing one scoreless no-hit inning with one strikeout allowing two walks.

Wausau 17, Wisconsin Rapids 4

The Wausau Woodchucks exploded for 15 runs over the final four innings to blow past the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 17-4. Noah Malone (Loyola Marymount University) had a day at the plate going 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, recording four RBIs, three runs scored, and one stolen base. Dylan Schlotterback (Paris JC) went 3-for-6 with a triple, tallying four RBIs and one run scored. Jake Berkland (Minnesota State University) went 2-for-3 scoring three times with three RBIs and one stolen base. Christian Smith-Johnson (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) went 1-for-4 scoring twice with two RBIs and one stolen base. Jake Beauchaine (Saddleback CC) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, scoring twice, and stealing two bases. Eric Harper (Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa CC) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Richie Lacien (Lawrence University) earned the win throwing six innings with four strikeouts allowing six hits, four runs, and one walk.

Eau Claire 8, La Crosse 6

The Eau Claire Express staged a thrilling three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the La Crosse Loggers 8-6. Mgwire Turner (University of Montevallo) came up clutch going 1-for-4 with a walk-off three-run home run. JJ Moran (Stanford University) went 2-for-4 with a triple, recording two RBIs and one run scored. Sam Erickson (Texas A&M University) went 1-for-3 scoring once with two RBIs. RJ Hamilton (Duke University) went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, scoring twice, and stealing two bases. Eli Small (Florida Atlantic University) went 2-for-5 scoring once with two RBIs and one stolen base. Kenneth Fistler (Alma College) earned the win throwing one perfect inning.

Badlands 13, Rochester 0

The Badlands Big Sticks dominated in a commanding 13-0 shutout win over the Rochester Honkers. Connor Sackett (Butler University) had a day at the plate going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and an RBI double, recording four RBIs and two runs scored. Connor Massimini (East Texas Baptist University) went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run. Samson Pugh (Texas State University) went 2-for-4 scoring twice with two stolen bases. Tyler Weimer (Arkansas State University) earned the win throwing nine scoreless innings with five strikeouts allowing eight hits and one walk. 

Traverse City 5, Kenosha 4

The Traverse City Pit Spitters walked it off in a thrilling fashion, scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Kenosha Kingfish 5-4. Aaron Piasecki (Troy University) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Isaac Sturgess (Michigan State University) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and one stolen base. Grady Mee (Western Michigan University) went 3-for-4 with a double, scoring three times and stealing one base. Ethan Hindle (University of Kentucky) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Drew Ferguson (Kellogg CC) earned the win throwing one inning allowing two strikeouts allowing one hit, one walk, and zero earned runs.

Thunder Bay 4, Willmar 3

The Thunder Bay Border Cats edged out the Willmar Stingers 4-3. Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University (MD)) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Kaiden Ashton went 1-for-5 with one RBI. Max Buettenback (University of Nebraska) went 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Tyler Talbert (University of Texas-Arlington) earned the win throwing 2.1 innings with four strikeouts allowing two walks and one hit.
