The La Crosse Steam dominated from the start, scoring nine in the first inning, taking down the Wausau Ignite 12-0. Grace Frechette (St. Cloud State University) was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a triple, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Avary Makarewicz (University of Tennessee at Martin) went 1-for-2 with a triple, recording two RBIs and one run scored. Skyler Dietz (Fort Lewis College) went 2-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs. Ashlee Chantos (Winona State University) went 1-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs. Abbie Stigler (Saint Mary’s University) went 2-for-2 with a double, tallying one RBI and three runs scored. Mackenzie Willis (Belmont University) earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings with five strikeouts, allowing one hit and one walk.
Wausau 15, La Crosse 5
The Wausau Ignite mounted an incredible comeback after a slow start, scoring nine runs in the second inning to defeat the La Crosse Steam 15-5. Riley Schwisow (Northwestern State University) had a day at the plate going 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and a double, driving in four runs and scoring four times. Molly Fitzgerald (University of Missouri-KC) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, recording two RBIs and two runs scored. Victoria Flores (Northern Kentucky University) went 2-for-4 with a double, tallying three RBIs and two runs scored. Kaylee Kinsinger (Dodge City CC) went 1-for-1 scoring once with two RBIs and one stolen base. Avary Makarewicz (University of Tennessee at Martin) went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run. Jackie Larsen (Bemidji State University) went 2-for-3 scoring once with one RBI and two stolen bases. Riley Stiles (Lake Forest College) earned the win throwing five innings allowing six hits, five runs, and five walks.
