Thursday’s Northwoods League slate featured 12 games. The Thunder Bay Border Cats built an early lead and added insurance late to secure a 9-4 win over the Duluth Huskies.

Kalamazoo 6, Kenosha 4

The Kalamazoo Growlers outlasted the Kenosha Kingfish 6-4 in 10 innings, scoring two in the last inning to seal the victory. Brodey Acres (Walsh University) went 1-for-4, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Antonio Perotta (University of Virginia) went 3-for-5 with a double, recording one RBI and one run scored. Isaac Vanderwoude (University of Virginia) went 1-for-4, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Tyler Horner (Seattle University) went 2-for-4 with a double, driving in two runs. Bryce Brassfield (St. Cloud State University) earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing one hit.

Fond du Lac 6, Madison 5

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders rallied with a big seventh inning to edge the Madison Mallards 6-5. TP Wentworth (Clemson University) went 2-for-4 with a bases-clearing double, recording four RBIs and one stolen base. Quinn Schambow (Oklahoma State University) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Jaron Cotton (University of Nebraska) went 2-for-3 scoring once with one stolen base. Frankie Carney (UC Irvine) went 2-for-3 with a double, driving in one run, scoring once, and stealing three bases. Liam Moreno (St. Cloud State University) went 2-for-5 scoring once with one RBI. Ryan Ament (George Mason University) earned the win throwing 1.2 perfect innings with one strikeout. Camden Broske (Madison CC) got the save throwing 1.1 scoreless innings allowing one hit.

Rockford 3, Battle Creek 1

The Rockford Rivets took down the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 3-1. Cooper Hinsin (Marshall University) went 2-for-4 with a double, driving in one run. Gavin Taylor (University of Nevada Las Vegas) went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Keaton Fisher (University of Northern Colorado) went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Jake Storey (University of Northern Colorado) dominated on the mound earning the win throwing six innings with seven strikeouts allowing seven hits and zero earned runs. Will Paxton (St. Peter”s University) got the save throwing one scoreless no-hit inning allowing one walk.

Thunder Bay 9, Duluth 4

The Thunder Bay Border Cats built an early lead and added insurance late to secure a 9-4 win over the Duluth Huskies. Joey Ruiz (Three Rivers CC (MO)) was perfect at the plate going 1-for-1, drawing three walks, driving in two runs, and scoring twice. Corey Morro (U of Science & Arts of Oklahoma) went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice. Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University (MD)) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and one stolen base. Nate Vargas (UC Santa Barbara) went 1-for-3 scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Ethan Cole (University of Minnesota) went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Ethan Froud (Pittsburg State University (KS)) earned the win throwing six innings with four strikeouts allowing four walks, two runs, and two hits. Peter Fusek (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) got the save throwing three innings with two strikeouts allowing three hits, two runs, and one walk.

Wausau 10, Green Bay 9

The Wausau Woodchucks roared back with a massive fifth inning to edge out the Green Bay Rockers 10-9. Noah Malone (Loyola Marymount University) went 1-for-4 with a double, recording one RBI, one run scored, and one stolen base. Christian Smith-Johnson (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) went 2-for-5 scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Jake Berkland (Minnesota State University) went 1-for-3 with a triple, tallying two RBIs and one run scored. David Ballenilla (Central Arizona College) went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs, driving in four runs and stealing one base. Joe Mennella (Wagner College) went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, scoring twice, and stealing one base. Kade Douglas (Colorado State-Pueblo) earned the win throwing two innings with two strikeouts allowing two hits, two earned runs, and two walks. Allen Leitner (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) got the save throwing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts allowing one hit.

La Crosse 5, Waterloo 2

The La Crosse Loggers topped the Waterloo Bucks 5-2. Carson Ohland (Grand Canyon University) was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, driving in four runs. Eli Small (Florida Atlantic University) went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Ethan Edinger (University of Louisville) went 1-for-3 scoring twice with one stolen base. Larry Edwards (McNeese State University) went 1-for-3 scoring once with two stolen base. Brayden Olson (St. Thomas (MN)) earned the win throwing 3.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts allowing two hits and one walk. Jack Mount (Wichita State University) got the save throwing two perfect innings striking out three of six batters faced.

Wisconsin Rapids 9, Lakeshore 4

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters rallied with a big sixth inning and kept adding on late to defeat the Lakeshore Chinooks 9-4. Landon Gaz (UC Irvine) was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with a double, recording two RBIs and two runs scored. Jake Beauchaine (Saddleback CC) went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, scoring three times, and stealing one base. Kerim Orucevic (UC San Diego) went 2-for-5 scoring twice and stealing one base. David Mysza (UCLA) went 3-for-5 with a double, recording one RBI and two stolen bases. Broc Parmer (University of Texas San Antonio) went 1-for-2 with a double, scoring once and stealing one base. Kenny Schultz (UW-Stevens Point) earned the win throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts allowing two hits and one walk.

Eau Claire 8, Rochester 2

The Eau Claire Express built an early lead and steadily added on to take down the Rochester Honkers 8-2. Sam Erickson (Texas A&M University) went 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Gabe Richardson (University of Minnesota-Duluth) went 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Jaxon Schumacher (Bradley University) went 3-for-5 with a double, driving in three runs. Jake Busson (University of Illinois – Chicago) went 2-for-5 with a double, recording one RBI and two runs scored. Payton Knowles (Gonzaga University) went 1-for-4 with a double, driving in one run. Cohen Gomez (Stanford University) earned the win throwing seven innings with five strikeouts allowing six hits, two runs, and two walks.

Mankato 7, Bismarck 0

The Mankato MoonDogs dominated on both sides of the ball, shutting out the Bismarck Larks 7-0. Adrian Beltre Jr. (University of San Diego) went 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles, driving in three runs and scoring once. Collin Jennings (University of Illinois) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, driving in one run and stealing one base. Bryant Viskovich (University of San Diego) went 2-for-3 scoring twice with one stolen base. Tyler Bunting (Rowan-Cumberland CC) went 3-for-3 with a double. Tyler Foster (UC Irvine) earned the win throwing six scoreless innings with three strikeouts allowing three hits.

St. Cloud 5, Badlands 4

The St. Cloud Rox held off a late rally to edge the Badlands Big Sticks 5-4. Jackson Hauge (University of Kansas) went 2-for-3 with a double, recording two RBIs and two runs scored. Tanner Recchio (University Of St. Thomas) went 1-for-5 with a double, scoring once and stealing one base. Wilmis Castro (St. Cloud State University) went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Maddox McDonald (Penn State University) went 3-for-4 with a triple and a double, recording three RBIs, one run scored, and one stolen base. Samson Pugh (Texas State University) went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one stolen base. Jonas Salk (University of Portland) went 2-for-4 scoring once with two stolen bases. Ryan Beaird (Tarleton State University) earned the win throwing 0.2 scoreless no-hit inning allowing one walk. Brandon Jaenke (University of Minnesota) got the save throwing one scoreless no-hit inning allowing one walk.

Traverse City 4, Royal Oak 2

The Traverse City Pit Spitters used a steady mid-game push to defeat the Royal Oak Leprechauns 4-2. Jacob Kucharczyk (Kellogg CC) was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 with a triple, recording two RBIs, one run scored, and one stolen base. Isaac Sturgess (Michigan State University) went 2-for-4 scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Adam Broski (Michigan State University) went 1-for-4 scoring once with one stolen base. Noah Bright (Michigan State University) went 3-for-4 with a double and scored once. Ryan Tyranski (University of Cincinnati) went 1-for-1 with one RBI. Preston Leon (Florida International University) went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Nathan Webb (Columbus State University) earned the win throwing six innings with four hits, three walks, and one run. Elliot Traver (University of Northwestern Ohio) got the save throwing 1.1 innings with one strikeout allowing three hits and one run.

Willmar 15, Minot 7

The Willmar Stingers erupted offensively, scoring in six different innings to overpower the Minot Hot Tots 15-7. Merrick Rapoza (Florida Gulf Coast University) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a two-run double. Charlie Schau (Minnesota State University) came up big in a pinch hit, going 1-for-1 with a three-run home run. Colton Griffin (Texas Christian University) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, scoring twice. Ryker Edwards (Louisiana Tech University) went 2-for-5 with a double, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Christian Stratis (The Citadel) went 1-for-4 scoring once with three RBIs. Isaac Morton (University of Minnesota) earned the win throwing 1.1 scoreless no-hit innings with two strikeouts allowing one walk.
