Friday’s Northwoods League slate featured 13 games. The Kalamazoo Growlers dominated from start to finish, rolling past the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 13-1 and are heading for the playoffs for the sixth time in seven seasons. Kalamazoo earned the second Great Lakes East playoff bid and will host Game 1 on Sunday, August 10th at 5:05 PM against Traverse City Pit Spitters.

Madison 7, Green Bay 6

The Madison Mallards topped the Green Bay Rockers, scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth to win 7-6. Frankie Carney (UC Irvine) went 2-for-3 with a double, driving in one run, scoring twice, and stealing two bases. Aidan Arnett (Virginia Tech) went 2-for-4, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Eli Selga (Golden West CC) went 3-for-4, scoring once with one RBI. Xaige Lancaster (University of Hawaii) went 3-for-3, scoring three times. Bryce Leedle (University of St. Thomas) earned the win, throwing 2.2 perfect innings with four strikeouts.

Kalamazoo 13, Battle Creek 1

The Kalamazoo Growlers dominated from start to finish, rolling past the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 13-1. Brodey Acres (Walsh University) went 3-for-6 with a pair of doubles, tallying three RBIs, one run scored, and one stolen base. Noah Coy (University of Notre Dame) went 3-for-5, scoring once with two RBIs. Matthew Thompson (Kent State University) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with one RBI and two stolen bases. Gabe Springer (Stanford University) went 1-for-1, scoring twice with two RBIs. Joshua Algarin (Walsh University) went 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Jack Crittendon (Kalamazoo Valley CC) earned the win, throwing 6.2 innings with seven strikeouts, allowing four hits, one run, and one walk.

Kenosha 22, Rockford 6

The Kenosha Kingfish erupted for 22 runs on 17 hits, crushing the Rockford Rivets 22-6. Nick Williams (Michigan State University) had a day at the plate going 4-for-5 with a three-run home run and a double, tallying four RBIs and five runs scored. Ivan Dahlberg (Northern Illinois) went 2-for-4 with a double, driving in four runs, scoring three times, and stealing two bases. Bryan Hatch (Valparaiso University) went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run, recording three RBIs and two runs scored. Kyle Alivo (University of Iowa) went 2-for-6 with a double, tallying three RBIs and one run scored. Gavin Taylor (University of Nevada, Las Vegas) went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run. Tate Shimao (University of Hawaii) went 3-for-4 with a double, driving in one run and scoring twice. Matthew Woodward (Rock Valley CC) earned the win, throwing four innings with six strikeouts, allowing eight walks, two earned runs, and one hit.

Minot 4, Badlands 3

The Minot Hot Tots defeated the Badlands Big Sticks 4-3 in a close nine-inning contest. Anthony Temesvary (Columbia University) was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, driving in one run and scoring once. Rowan Felsch (UC Irvine) went 2-for-3 with a double, tallying one RBI and one run scored. Matt Toomey (Long Beach State University) went 2-for-4, scoring once. Thomas Maher (UC San Diego) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Samson Pugh went 1-for-3 with a double, driving in two runs. Oliver Brown (Prairie View A&M University) earned the win, throwing five innings with four strikeouts, allowing four hits, two runs, and one walk. Josh Livengood (Centre College) got the save, throwing 1.1 scoreless no-hit innings, striking out two of five batters faced, allowing one walk.

Wausau 21, Wisconsin Rapids 5

The Wausau Woodchucks dominated the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters with a high-scoring 21-5 victory. Noah Malone (Loyola Marymount University) was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a two-run home run, recording four RBIs, and four runs scored. Jake Berkland (Minnesota State University) went 3-for-5, scoring three times with three RBIs and three stolen bases. Josh Arquette (Panola CC) went 3-for-5, scoring three times with three RBIs. Christian Smith-Johnson (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) went 1-for-4, scoring twice with two RBIs and two stolen bases. Max Soliz went 1-for-3, scoring twice with two RBIs. Landon Gaz (UC Irvine) went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run. River Lindsey (Rock Valley CC) went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, tallying two RBIs, two runs scored, and one stolen base. Green Bay 5, Madison 3

The Green Bay Rockers used a big fourth inning, scoring five runs, to take down the Madison Mallards 5-3. David Ballenilla (Central Arizona College) went 1-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs. Xagie Lancaster (University of Hawaii) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Joe Mennella (Wagner College) went 2-for-3 with a double and scored once. Michael Lippe (University of Minnesota) went 1-for-2 with a double and scored once. Austin Grube (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) earned the win, throwing three innings, allowing four hits, three walks, and two runs. Zach Dohrmann (Eastern Illinois University) got the save, throwing two scoreless innings, allowing one hit.

Duluth 4, Thunder Bay 0

The Duluth Huskies shut out the Thunder Bay Border Cats 4-0. Rowan Kelly (UC Santa Barbara) went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two stolen bases. Ethan Surowiec (University of Florida) went 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once, and stealing one base. Tyler Palmer (University of Nebraska Omaha) went 1-for-3, scoring once and stealing two bases. Jackson Smith (Central Michigan University) earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings with five strikeouts, allowing two hits and two walks.

Waterloo 9, Eau Claire 1

The Waterloo Bucks came out hot, scoring four runs in the inning to cruise to a 9-1 victory over the Eau Claire Express. Jimmy Nugent (University of Louisville) went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a triple, tallying four RBIs and two runs scored. Mitchell Iliff (University of Sioux Falls) went 2-for-4 with a double, driving in two runs and scoring once. Cole Smith (Northern Illinois University) went 1-for-2, scoring twice with one RBI. The Rochester Honkers edged out the La Crosse Loggers 6-5 in an extra-inning battle. Lakeshore 17, Fond du Lac 7

The Lakeshore Chinooks outslugged the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders in a wild, high-scoring affair, winning 17-7. Jesse Aguirre (Mesa CC) went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an RBI triple, tallying three RBIs and two runs scored. Dylan Sayles (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) went 3-for-4 with a triple, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Owen Deshazo (Boston College) went 2-for-5 with a double, recording three RBIs. The Traverse City Pit Spitters took down the Royal Oak Leprechauns 5-3. Adam Broski (Michigan State University) went 1-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs. Mankato 16, St. Cloud 10

The Mankato MoonDogs rallied to defeat the St. Cloud Rox 16-10 in a high-scoring game. Collin Jennings (University of Illinois) was an RBI machine, going 3-for-6 with a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, driving in seven RBIs, and scoring three times. Miken Miller (Johnson County CC) went 2-for-5 with a double, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Brandon Vlcko (Minnesota State University) went 1-for-6 with a two-run home run. The Willmar Stingers exploded for 5 runs in the third to help beat the Bismarck Larks 8-3. Brock Larsen (University of Minnesota-Crookston) went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run.
